Harps Food Stores Coming to Chaffee Crossing in Fort Smith

Moses Tucker Partners exclusively brokered the transaction between Arkansas Colleges of Health Education and Harps Food Stores.

FORT SMITH, Ark., May 21, 2024—Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) in Fort Smith, Arkansas, will soon welcome Harps Food Stores to its campus. Moses Tucker Partners, one of the largest commercial brokerage and management firms in Arkansas, directly represents ACHE and exclusively brokered the transaction.

With plans to break ground on the project in the summer of 2024, the Springdale-based grocery chain selected ±5.5 acres at the prominent corner of Highway 255 and Veteran's Avenue in Chaffee Crossing, adjacent to the ACHE campus, for its sprawling 40,000-square-foot store. Chaffee Crossing, a 7,000-acre mixed-use community in Fort Smith, is home to the 500-acre ACHE campus, which includes the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine, schools of physical and occupational therapy, and a Masters of Biomedicine degree program.

"We are thrilled to welcome Harps Food Stores to the Chaffee Crossing community," said Eric Nelson, Principal & Vice President of Brokerage at Moses Tucker Partners. "We believe that Harps' presence on the ACHE campus will not only enrich the student experience but also enhance the area’s retail landscape and serve as a vital resource for the broader community.”

Harps was founded in 1930 by Harvard and Floy Harp. The grocery chain employs more than 6,800 workers and is 100% employee-owned. It has approximately 150 stores across Arkansas, Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

“The expertise and dedication of the MTP team ensured the seamless alignment of ACHE's vision with Harps Grocery's expansion objectives,” said Matt Beachboard, Brokerage Director at Moses Tucker Partners. “We look forward to playing an integral role in the continued development of the ACHE campus and surrounding Chaffee Crossing community."

Approximately 400 acres in the heart of Chaffee Crossing near the ACHE campus are available for development.
